As a first-generation United States Citizen raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Iris Guerra Bravo wanted to ensure that her community had access to exceptional and experienced legal representation. To achieve this goal, she attended and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in History and minor in Government. She later earned her Juris Doctor from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas. After successfully earning her law degree and obtaining her Texas law license in 2008, she returned to her roots and began her career.
Her career spans over 16 years of public service, representing the Department of Homeland Security as a Deputy Chief Counsel and Assistant Chief Counsel at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as the State of Texas as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Public Defender for Hidalgo County.
She has litigated thousands of cases, including complex immigration matters and misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, and has provided expert legal guidance to law enforcement officers across various federal and state agencies.
